Stunning Custom Home + ADU In Bend

These clients first came to us after having purchased a lot in Bend’s Wood River Village neighborhood, just steps from the Deschutes River. They were living in Southern California at the time and had plans to build a new custom home on their lot and relocate to Bend in the future. However, they were several years away from being able to execute their move and in the meantime, wanted to build an ADU in Bend on their property that they could use when visiting Bend, rent when not in Bend, and eventually, use as a place to live before their custom home in Wood River Village was complete.

After finding PGC Building + Design on Houzz and talking with us about their vision, we worked with them as their ADU builder in Bend. When they were ready to move forward, we also helped them design and build their custom home in Bend that seamlessly integrated with the existing ADU and incorporated all the features and styles they were looking for to create a one-of-a-kind space they could call home.

Phase 1: Building An ADU In Bend

Phase one of this project was building the ADU in Bend on the lot in Wood River Village. The ADU was to be used as both a vacation rental as well as the owner’s residence when in Bend. We also knew that the ADU would eventually be accompanied by a new home on the lot when the owners were ready to build their home, and therefore, we were able to plan the location and size accordingly.

When we started building this ADU in Bend there was already a home on the lot that needed to be removed prior to beginning the new build. As we started the design process, the client’s ready with an idea to build an ADU that had its own unique character and was not a run-of-the-mill ADU project. They wanted something stylish and creative, and we worked with them in collaboration with Wooster Design Inspirations to design and build an ADU that met these requirements.

Phase 2: Building A Custom Home In Bend’s Wood River Village

When it came time to build this couple’s custom home in Bend, one of their biggest priorities was that the home’s design blended with the design of the ADU. They also had several features they wanted to incorporate into their home, including an art studio, a sun room, a bunk room, and a yoga studio. 

One of the challenges was finding a way to add all of these features in a way that still gave the home a good flow while remaining within the established footprint. We again worked in collaboration with Viki Wooster of Wooster Design Inspirations to design and build a custom home that would bring all of the pieces together.

Additionally, these clients wanted to use a wide variety of materials and design elements in their home, so we worked to bring all these pieces together from built in decorative accents to contemporary materials like a concrete fireplace to the vibrant colors to create a cohesive design that highlighted their personality and made use of a unique blend of materials and textures for a beautiful eclectic design.

We enjoyed bringing together all of the ideas the client had for their custom home’s features and design to create a space with a cohesive aesthetic that aligned with their ideas. It was also rewarding to be able to add to a project we’d worked on previously to create a new space that blended well with the original ADU in Bend.

Build An ADU + Custom Home In Bend

This multi-phase custom home and ADU in Bend enabled these clients to build a home they loved, on a timeline that worked best for their needs. Once their custom home was complete, they continued to use their ADU as a rental property. We’re thrilled to have been able to work on this project, incorporating unique thinking and innovative design to create a new home for these clients as they moved their roots to Bend.
